NTA publishes a notice to stop Viber Out/Skype Credit calls.
Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has published a notice regarding the calls made from Viber, Skype to mobile phones inside the network of NTA. The umbrella organization of telecommunications service has urged all concerned to stop the selling of recharge cards used to recharge in the Voice Over IP (VOIP) services. It also states that failing to pertain to this notice will attract applicable laws against the 'Telecommunication Act'.
Earlier, it was reported that anonymous calls and messages were being received by various users of Nepal. Nepal Police received complaints from a number of users that they were being threatened/asked for money from "unknown" numbers. Many users are using Skype Credit/ Viber Out to call numbers in Nepal anonymously.
